Key Pen Parks has opened a nine-hole disc golf course at Volunteer Park, its main sports complex in Lakebay.
There is no fee to play on the course. Disc rentals are available for $10, with a full refund when you bring back the disc, at the park office. The office is opens Mondays through Fridays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The complex is located at 5514 Key Peninsula Highway N. It also includes ball fields, a skate park, a tennis court, horseshoe pits, a walking trail, limited camping sites, a concession stand and playground equipment.
Chad Harvell, recreation coordinator for the parks department, said there are no plans to expand the course. But, he said, the district is going through a master plan process so an expansion may be a possibility in the future.
