2014-15 earnings: Gonzales has $656,697 (74th on the PGA Tour), Michael Putnam has $353,868 (126th), and Andrew Putnam has $251,812 (151st).
Never miss a local story.
The skinny: Gonzales is coming off a tied-for-60th showing at last week’s RBC Heritage (1-under-par 283), which was his first made cut since mid-March. The Capital High School graduate posted three rounds of par or better, which had not happened in two months — not since he tied for 10th at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (68-70-64-70). His putting is starting to show more signs of life heading into the summer. … Michael Putnam missed the cut at the RBC Heritage (7-over 149) — his first missed cut since early February at the Farmers Insurance Open. Last week was his worst putting display of the year, giving up nearly two strokes to the field in each round in South Carolina. He has not played in the Zurich Classic since missing the cut in 2012. … It was a much-needed two-week break for Andrew Putnam, whose last PGA Tour appearance was a tied-for-25th finish at the Shell Houston Open (8-under 280) on April 5. Quietly, the younger Putnam brother has made three of his past four tournament cuts after missing four in a row.
Tee times Thursday: Gonzales at 6:10 a.m. (PDT) off the first tee, Michael Putnam at 11:20 a.m. off the first tee and Andrew Putnam at 11:50 a.m. off the 10th tee.
