Pacific Lutheran rolled to a 16-4 victory over George Fox on Friday to win their opening round game of the inaugural Northwest Conference baseball tournament Friday at PLU Field in Parkland.
The 18th-ranked Lutes (27-9) play Whitworth at 1 p.m. Saturday, while George Fox (17-22) faces Linfield in an elimination game.
PLU scored four runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings, finishing the day with 18 hits. Collin Nilson, who graduated from Fife, was 4 for 5 with two doubles and four RBIs, while Landon Packard, an Emerald Ridge graduate, was 3 of 6 with a pair of RBIs.
Chris Bishop (7-2) gave up four runs — three earned — in six innings to pick up the victory for the Lutes.

Whitworth 2, Linfield 0: Dan Scheibe (9-2) threw the first nine-inning no-hitter in school history since aluminum bats were introduced, walking two and striking out 11 to lead the Pirates (26-13) past the Tigers (27-11).
