This week: WGC-Cadillac Match Play, Wednesday through Sunday, TPC Harding Park, San Francisco.
World ranking: 29th.
2014-15 earnings: $2.17 million (10th on the PGA Tour).
Match play seed: No. 29.
First-round opponent: England’s Danny Willett, the No. 22 seed, at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.
The skinny: The match-play format was changed this year, from single elimination to round robin, guaranteeing each golfer at least three matches. In Moore’s four-man pod (Group 15), it will be two Americans (Moore, Patrick Reed) and two Europeans (Willett, Andy Sullivan) squaring off for a berth to the quarterfinals. Last season, when the event was held at Dove Mountain in Arizona, Moore defeated Joost Luiten, 1 up, in the first round before being eliminated by Matt Kuchar, 2 up, in the round of 32. Moore’s best showing at this event came in 2011, when he reached the quarterfinals before losing to Luke Donald. This is Willett’s first appearance in the WGC-Cadillac Match Play. PGA Tour.com has Moore ranked 18th in the 64-golfer field
Next: Will play Sullivan at 3 p.m. Thursday and Reed at 12:10 p.m. Friday.
