Utah State has become a trendy pick as a first round upset winner. And it would be an upset – the Huskies are favored by six.
Even the Huskies seem to understand why. That team they were twice against Washington State? That team they were in the second half against Oregon only one week ago? Those teams probably wouldn't beat Utah State.
But the team that the Huskies were most of the season? The one that beat Gonzaga? The one that swept UCLA? The one that swept Pac-10 road trips in Los Angeles, Oregon and Arizona? That team advances past Utah State and probably even past Illinois.
First things first: The Aggies' guards aren't big and they aren't good one-on-one defenders, so Brandon Roy should have a big night. Even at that, USU seldom get blown out. Six of their eight losses this season came by single digits. So, I'm figuring they'll worry the Huskies all night and take the game into crunch time. But USU doesn't have much depth and by the time the 36th, 37th, 38th, 39th minutes roll around, the Huskies should be fresher and better.
Let's call it UW, 74-66.
