No one was rewarded with the gold practice jersey in this morning's workout, and coach Tyrone Willingham noted that reflected his dissatisfaction with the entire Thursday practice. He added that the Friday morning practice was only somewhat better.
Lots of players were limping their way into and out of the dining hall today, indicating lots of bumps and bruises and soreness as this second week of camp nears its end.
There is a more serious health issue for defensive tackle Jordan White-Frisbee, who wore a protective boot on his left foot. Willingham called it "a precaution as much as anything else." Scott White also remains limited in the aftermath of a concussion. Linebacker E.J. Savannah also wore a red/injury jersey this morning. Willingham said the former Bellevue H.S. star has been "back and forth" with lingering effects of a neck injury.
Asked if there are any positions further along than he expected, Willingham instantly named the quarterback position, specifically mentioning starter Isaiah Stanback and No. 2 Carl Bonnell. However, Willingham has also stepped up recent positive mentions of Johnny DuRocher; and he is recently on record as saying Jake Locker compares with any freshman quarterback he has had.
