Very interesting first half. Fresno took the opening kickoff and reeled off one of the easiest drives I've ever seen. They ripped amazing holes through the Huskies and were up 7-0 in no time. After that first score, it would have seemed impossible to believe they wouldn't score again in the half. However, FSU seemed to get too smart for itself, got away from the power game, and UW took advantage.
A big moment in the UW drive that took the lead came when Coach Tyrone Willingham had the Huskies go opn a fourth and one from their own 47. Quarterback Isaiah Stanback convered on a sneak, then broke off a 36-yard run deep into Fresno territory, and then scored on a 6-yard sweep.
Another interesting thing is that UW, which has run so well the first two weeks, has mostly lived through the air today. At half, UW had passed for 102 yards – mostly short possession passes – and 75 yards on the ground – mostly from Stanback.
Fresno has 86 rushing yards – 50 on that first drive – and 53 passing yards.
