It strikes me that The News Tribune has an exceptionally opinion-based Football Friday and Sports sections tomorrow. In addition to the weekly conference and national rankings and picks, we'll also have a team-by-team look at the Pac-10 race as conference play begins. And we'll have first-quarter report cards for the Huskies and Cougars.
Here is an early look at the Pac-10 picks:
No. 3 Southern California at Arizona. Trojans have won record 23 straight conference games. USC, 37-10.
No. 22 Arizona State at No. 21 California. Cal TB Marshawn Lynch nursing tender ankle. Bears, 35-31.
Never miss a local story.
Washington State at Stanford. Cougars fourth game in fourth stadium this season. WSU, 42-20.
Idaho at Oregon State. Which Beavers will show up? Which Vandals? OSU, 35-21.
UCLA at Washington. Huskies haven't had back-to-back wins since 2003. UW, 31-24.
Last week: 6-2 (One of those losses, of course, was picking Fresno over UW. Two of you guys warned me last week that I should have gone the other way. As you can see this week, I've learned my lesson.)
