10:22 a.m.: It is a mild but windy day on the Cal campus.
I'm especially aware of that because the pressbox at Memorial Stadium is the open air. And at just this moment that open air is whistling from right to left across my keyboard. (It's actually windy enough where the Call media-information staff isn't bothing to place game notes at our work station, assuming, I suppose, that they would immediately be blown into the bay.)
In any case, I'm even earlier than usual today... just a few Cal students trickling into the stands. Otherwise, it's just game-support staff and serious-looking offers sweeping the place with serious-looking dogs.
The plan, as usual, is to file here as any halfway interesting happens before the game, followed by game reports at the quarters, before turning it over to you folks to share your thoughts.
Never miss a local story.
A reminder: the game is on FSN at 12:30 p.m.
11:28: A few players are warming up now. And -- alas -- it seems Cal has shelved the yellow jerseys they unveiled vs. Oregon. The Bears are wearing navy tops and yellow pants.
11:30: By the way, those early-arriving Cal students were setting up a card section – with seems very retro-cool. The cards are currently arrived to say "Go Cal."
12:38: Game captains are Kenny James, Jordan Reffett, Wilson Afoa and Scott White.
