Coach Tyrone Willingham had said yesterday that he would have word this morning on tailback Kenny James' ankle injury.
However, that proved not to be the case.
"The doctors and our trainers have not had an opportunity to discuss the MRIs yet, but it looks like everything is negative," Willingham said Tuesday. "It is just an ankle sprain, but they want to make sure that they look at all options before they have the final word on it."
James seems unlikely to play this week against Arizona State. In his absence, Louis Rankin will start at tailback, with Shelton Sampson of Lakewood in reserve.
Willingham is not scheduled to meet with the media any more today, so it could be Wednesday before we have any more idea of how long James might be out.
