Coach Tyrone Willingham said "we'll look and see" whether Carl Bonnell or Johnny DuRocher will start Saturday against Stanford. The coach added that if the game were held today, Bonnell would retain the starting job that he has held for the three games since Isaiah Stanback was lost for the season.
Asked if there is still a chance of removing true freshman quarterback Jake Locker's redshirt, Willingham said, "Each week the window gets smaller. I would say it's out the window."
In his medical report, Willingham said tailback Kenny James (ankle) and guard Clay Walker (ankle) are expected to play this week. Safety Jason Wells (knee) probably will not. Defensive lineman Brandon Ala (elbow) is out for the season.
The Huskies plan to repeat the pregame walk through the southeast parking lot into the stadium at 10:45 a.m. Saturday – although that plan could change in bad weather.
Never miss a local story.
Willingham, a vigilant weather-watcher, cited forecasts for rain most days through and including Saturday. He plans to have the team practice outside in the game-like conditions, but that they might go into Dempsey Indoor to assure one day of quality work.
Willingham joked that it wasn't easy to name players of the week after the loss to Oregon, but finally cited center Juan Garcia, safety Chris Hemphill and return man Marlon Wood.
