Washington football coach Tyrone Willingham spoke for the first time today on the recent incident in which Atlanta Falcons coach Jim Mora Jr. "joked" that he wants the Huskies job.
Willingham's comments: "To be very honest about it I didn't find out about any of this until it was almost a dead issue. I'm busy doing what we do, which was recruit, and that was where my focus was. (Once I heard), my thought is very simply this: If you just left people speak, you can really find out a lot. As I heard one of the commentators said, 'That was a great case of opening mouth, inserting foot.' That was what they said."
Willingham was asked it he had an interest in the Falcons job, and responded: "No. Not to make the same mistake. No."
Willingham said he knows Mora a bit: "We've met and talked a couple of occasions," he said.
