UW freshman center Spencer Hawes sat out the Huskies' Saturday afternoon loss at Washington State after suffering an ankle sprain late in practice Friday before flying to Pullman.
ON WARMING UP BEFORE THE WSU GAME: "If you can't run you're not helping your team. … I was trying to go out there and get it warm so I could play."
ON WHAT IT WAS LIKE WATCHING THE LOSS: "As an athlete, when you know you could be helping your team out there and there's not a whole lot you can do about it, that's the hardest thing to do. Especially a loss."
ON HIS AVAILABILITY FOR THE OREGON GAME ON THURSDAY: "I don't think it should be a problem for (Thursday). I have time to get it back where it needs to be by then."
Never miss a local story.
ON THE INJURY COMING JUST AS HE WAS RECOVERING FROM STOMACH FLU: "It's a couple of tough breaks. But I'm looking forward to getting back at it and putting all this stuff behind me."
