In today's paper we belatedly began the same kind of weekly power rankings/notes that we have regularly run during football season.
For the rest of these season, I plan to post them here on Tuesdays before they appear in the paper alongside my column on Wednesday.
1.) Oregon (18-1, 6-1): Ducks have matched best start ever.
2.) UCLA (17-1, 5-1): Bruins have won 15 straight in Pauley Pavilion.

3.) Washington State (16-3, 5-2): Twenty-eight point margin was Cougars biggest win ever over Huskies and their largest in Pac-10 play since 1994.
4.) Arizona (14-5, 5-4): North Carolina visits Tucson on Saturday.
5.) Stanford (12-5, 4-3): Seven-foot freshman Robin Lopez leading Pac-10 in blocked shots (2.41 bpg).
6.) USC (15-5, 5-2): Swingman Nick Young named Pac-10 player of the week, averaging 24 points and 5.5 rebounds in sweep of Arizona schools.
7.) California (12-7, 4-3): Golden Bears lead the nation in free throw shooting (78.4 percent).
8.) Washington (11-7, 1-6): Five of next seven games at home.
9.) Oregon State (9-11, 1-6): Junior forward Marcel Jones averaging 23.5 points and 7.8 rebounds over the last four games.
10.) Arizona State (6-14, 0-9): Winless in Herb Sendek's first tour through the league.
