The game went back and forth for the first 13 minutes, but UW didn't get a field goal over the final seven minutes as the Cougars cruised into control.
Hawes (nine points) and Brockman (seven) had nice halves, but the WSU guards and wings are having their way with their UW counterparts. (Appleby is having a nice offensive game with three threes.)
WSU is shooting .607, UW .360. The Cougars also have an edge in rebounds, 15-13. WSU has 11 assists and six turnovers, while UW has six assists and seven turnovers.
WSU also is dominating in the paint, 18-8. That's not because their bigs are dominating. It's because their guards and wings are losing their defenders as they cut through the lane.
Never miss a local story.
Washington has a big edge at the free throw line, 11 of 14 compared to WSU's two of four. However, some of that is because Husky defenders often haven't been close enough to foul.
