Very nice energetic half by the Huskies.
The difference in the score, in fact, might be a little case of home cooking. Pitt was 11 of 13 from the foul line, while Washington was 2-of-2, with that lone trip to the foul line coming about 19 minutes into the half.
Also, there were five close charge/block calls to be made, and the first four went against UW.
The other notable item is that UW is getting points from unexpected places. Their three leading scorers are Adrian Oliver (6), Ryan Appleby and Hans Gasser (5 each). Hawes and Brockman have four each. And Pitt is keeping Brockman off the boards: just two rebounds.
Pitt is being led by guard Levance Fields (9) and forward Mike Cook (8). Gray has only two points on 1-of-5 shooting, and four rebounds.
UW is shooting 39.3 percent; Pitt 33.3.
Other than fouls the big different is turnovers (UW 10, Pitt 4) and points off turnovers (UW 3, Pitt 15).
