A lot of dejected-sounding coaches on the Pac-10 media call Tuesday, especially Cal's Jeff Tedford, ASU's Dennis Erickson and, of course, WSU's Paul Wulff. Some news around the league:
ARIZONA: A third-string running back seems to be making waves already, and could be the future at the position in coming seasons.
ARIZONA STATE: Chants of "Brock" from fans during the Sun Devils' loss to Oregon State has put Montana product Brock Osweiler on alert. His day could be coming.
CALIFORNIA: A shock, yes. Back-to-back defeats has the Golden Bears reeling, so they plug into serious mode this week.
Never miss a local story.
OREGON: Ducks get another blow at cornerback as Glasper – Thurmond's replacement – goes down with a season-ending knee injury.
OREGON STATE: Its new-look defense, with a few new starters, will go full speed ahead for Stanford matchup.
STANFORD: Jim versus Jay – Harbaugh-style. The Cardinal coach and his younger brother – a second-year assistant at Oregon State – will be on the same field Saturday.
UCLA: His jaw rubber-banded shut for a few weeks, Prince is not only able to practice, but eat solid foods again with Bruins.
USC: Lost in the running-back shuffle is a guy who has contributed mightily over the years – Gable.
WASHINGTON STATE: I could update you on the fast-expanding injury list for the Cougars. How 'bout a little humor. Check this out poking fun at former WSU coach Dennis Erickson, who brings his ASU squad to Pullman this weekend.
