The barrel of news Monday for the Washington Huskies football team wasn't all celebratory.
The same day quarterback Jake Locker announced he would return for his senior season, a report by King 5 News in its nightly newscast detailed a case where the university self-reported itself to the NCAA for a violation concerning alcohol purchased by players during a recruiting visit.
Approximately $300 of alcohol was paid for by players for underage recruits, King 5 News reported.
The incident happened after the UW players signed waivers before taking the recruits out, knowing what was legal, according to King 5 News.
When contacted by the television stations, UW coach Steve Sarkisian noted the violation was minor, and that punishment for those players were community service. The recruits repaid the cost of the alcohol purchase.
