Here's the full story from the Saturday paper. And here's a skimmers-eye-view of Arizona State's 68-51 win over Washington on Friday at Wells Fargo Arena.
Star of the game: ASU forward Rihards Kuksiks scores a game-high 27 points, including five of eight 3-pointers. He got the Sun Devils off to a quick start in the game, and then almost single-handedly put the Huskies away with a quick eight-point flurry early in the second half.
Key stats: Washington shot 36 percent from the field. The Huskies were held 12 points below their previous lowest-scoring game. And for the second straight game, they were outrebounded -- this time 39-29.
Key run: Early in the second half, Kuksiks hit two 3-pointers and finished a break with a slam, pushing ASU's lead to 15 points ... which was pretty much bullet-proof considering the Huskies' troubles with the ASU zone.
Quotable: "I don’t know yet. We’re going to have to figure out something to change that will turn it around. … We just have to play harder. We have to scrap. We just have to scrap. I think that will solve any problems that we have." -- UW captain Quincy Pondexter, when asked how the Huskies will turn things around.
Next: 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at Arizona, which lost to WSU tonight.
