Hoops coach Lorenzo Romar has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at UW through th 2019-20 season. The contract has not yet been signed pending finalization of the specific language. Terms were not released. "I could not be more excited," Romar through a UW press release. "I have always said this is where I wanted to be. It is so great to see President Mark Emmert, Scott Woodward and the rest of the administration step up and make it clear they want us to be here. That is really important. We have been blessed to have good character kids that have been productive student-athletes, as well as an outstanding staff, which in turn has enabled us to have had some decent success here at UW, advancing to three NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in the last six years. This new agreement enables us to continue the challenge of taking the program to the next level of competitive success."
The Huskies are 171-91 over Romar's first eight seasons and have been to five NCAA tournaments and three Sweet 16s, most recently in the just-completed season. He ranks third about UW coaches in career victories.
He is a UW alum and has long maintained that he hopes to stay at UW and isn't interested in other jobs. And this contract seems to back that up.
