And in front of 125 people at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club on Monday evening – 40 Gig Harbor High football teammates, his coaches, friends, family and school district officials – Seferian-Jenkins announced he was going to attend the University of Washington over Texas.
Before Tides coach Darren McKay handed over the microphone, he looked at his star tight end. "The big, nervous guy," McKay said.
To which Seferian-Jenkins responded: "I am a little nervous right now."
A few minutes later, when it was time to announce, he bent over and reached under a table, and grabbed a Husky hat and football, and said he picked the hometown purple and gold
"It's going to be a national champion soon," Seferian-Jenkins said.
