A continuation of what went on against Brigham Young last week – shoddy special teams play (and a big penalty by a true freshman, this time a 15-yard facemask infraction on Sean Parker before a punt), bad field position for the offense and no spark of a big play.
Three plays after Parker's penalty, quarterback Ryan Nassib squeezed by linebackers Mason Foster and Cort Dennison along the left hash and scooted 28 yards for a touchdown, and 7-0 Syracuse lead at the 12:41 mark.
On the kickoff, Taz Stevenson was called for a block in the back penalty during the return, and the UW offense surrendered the ball at its 25-yard line.
Syracuse scored again, this time a Ross Krautman 29-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead with 4:29 remaining.
Aided by two successful challenged, the Huskies scored right before the half – a 37-yard field goal by Erik Folk.
