If folks somehow forgot these two teams really don't care for each other, they got a reminder of it a few minutes ago.
As UW players were dancing around the field, stretching, sprinting (some such as linebacker Mason Foster bare-chested), a lot of them, including the redshirting freshmen who appear to be hanging out as a group, huddled near the Cougars' logo at midfield.
As they often do, excitement bubbled - enough where WSU players who were also going through some pre-game activities along the far sideline, came over to try and break it up.
And, so, the chatter began.
Never miss a local story.
In one moment, UW linebacker Victor Aiyewa and WSU quarterback Connor Halliday got close to each other's faces, welcoming them to the 103rd Apple Cup.
Many of the Huskies made gestures to the Cougars' student section as they were heading to the tunnel.
** UPDATE (3:45 p.m.): UW left tackle Senio Kelemete is running with the No. 1 offense in pre-game warmups. Looks like he's going to play, if not, start. ... Safety Sean Parker (shoulder) is in street clothes, and will not play.
UPDATE II: Kind of a cool new thing - former quarterback Drew Bledsoe and center Robbie Tobeck raised the Cougars' flag right before the game in the southwest corner of Martin Stadium. They played in the 1992 "Snow Bowl" in Pullman - a UW victory over the Huskies.
