Down by two, 1.1 seconds left ... and Isaiah Thomas was used to deliver the in-bound pass tonight at Stanford.
That pass eventually went to Justin Holiday, who missed from about 12 feet.
Here are reactions from three key figures in the decision and the play.
Coach Lorenzo Romar, on why Thomas was used in the passing role: "He leads the league in assists. He’s a good passer. We were trying to get it over the top. They did a good job of defending it, thought."
Never miss a local story.
Holiday on the play: "The plan was for me to get a lob. But when they held, I knew I didn’t have much time to shoot it. And I thought that was going in too. He contested real well. I had to shoot up a little higher than I wanted to."
Thomas, on if he would have rather been the shooter in that case: "I wish they called it for me, but it’s all right. Holiday got a good look. Coach ain’t going to do nothing to not win the game. So he thought that would work. I’m all behind Coach."
