Final score: 77-75. Instant classic.
Thomas ended with 28 points.
All-tourney team includes Klay Thompson, WSU; Terrence Ross and Isaiah Thomas from UW -- with Thomas repeating as most outstanding player.
Back with much more ... including probable news of repeat tournament MVP award to Thomas.
1ot/3:06 MBA fouls out. UW, 73-72.
1OT/3:22 Fearless jumper goes in for Ross, freindly roll for Wilcox.
Headed to overtime: Wilcox three ties it at 68-68. Arizona desperation try at buzzer fails.
26.8 seconds UA, 66-62. Wildcats break UW pressure, Williams drives in for score, fouled, hits FT.
1:42 Arizona, 63-59. UW's bad run continues with a goaltend called on MBA, then a charge on Thomas, then a backcourt foul on Thomas.
3:30 UW, 59-58. If UW loses, they'll be plenty to regret in recent stretch. Thomas misses a pair of free throws, the UW comes away scoreless on three-shot possession extended by two offensive rebounds.
6:18 Thomas on back-to-back leave-it-to-me scoring drives. UW, 59-55.
8:33 UW had lead up to five points, then Arizona closed to one, and now it's 55-52. Thomas still scoreless this half, but MBA turning it on with eight.
13:08 Even at 46. MBA back on cout. Thomas scoreless this half, but he's distributing well. Nice ally-opp to Ross a moment ago that put UW very briefly ahead.
2nd/15:34 Even at 42. MBA back on the bench with three fouls. (Ross and Holiday also have three.)
2nd half: ... has begun.
Halftime: Arizona, 36-33.
Isaiah Thomas has 19 points ... the most by a Husky at halftime this season. However next high-scoring Dawg is Scott Suggs with five.
Arizona way more balanced: Williams 7, Perry and Mayes 6, Horne 5, Hill and Parrom 4.
UW shooting 43 percent, UA 48 percent. UW 17 rebounds, UA 13. Points in paint: Arizona, 16-8... probably reflecting just nine minutes of play by MBA due to those two quick fouls.
1st/3:28 Arizona, 32-26. Apparent goaltend on Wildcats missed. UW fans here were unhappy even before that.
1st/4:53 Arizona opens the first daylight of the game, 32-24. Isaiah Thomas has 14 of UW's 24 points.
1st/7:38 Arizona, 21-19.
1st/15:59 Arizona, 6-5. Huskies opened with a three by Thomas. Derrick Williams hasn't scored yet.
Tipoff: The championship game has begun.
Lineup: Unchanged for the Huskies: Thomas, MBA, Holiday, Wilcox and Ross.
Pregame: Stanford won the women's title as usual. Then Staples Center was cleared and now opened again for the men's championship game: No. 1 Arizona vs. No. 3 Washington, 3:10 p.m. on CBS.
The Wildcats are in white and the Huskies in black for the championship, which includes an automatic NCAA tournament bid, which neither team probably needs ... (however, they're still a double-digit seed in several bracketology projections, so ...)
A few notes:
* Isaiah Thomas needs two assists to break the current Pac-10 tournament record of 24 assists.
* Thomas is the reigning tournament outstanding player. If he receives the award again today, he will join former Arizona Wildcat Sean Elliott as the only players to win the award in consecutive tournaments.
* UW has won seven straight games in Los Angeles.
As usual, we'll keep this post open all afternoon and evening for pregame, in-game and postgame news, notes, quotes and your comments.
