Got this up a little late since I was in a place they don't all computers.
But anyway, Husky running back coach Joel Thomas talked with Softy Mahler today. There were a few notes that you may find interesting.
Antavius Sims is being moved to wide receiver. The one-time quarterback recruit looked very tentative this spring as they tried him out at running back. And since Sims is such a good athlete, the Huskies will try to utilize his speed at receiver. Thomas said the reasoning was due to the depth chart. Basically Sims is buried behind the rest of the running backs.
From that comment, you might assume that means Deontae Cooper is good to go this fall in his battle back from two knee surgeries. Thomas wouldn't commit to Cooper being ready for day one of fall camp, saying it wasn't something that the staff had talked about. He said that decision would be made in the coming days and that most of his reports are positive.
Never miss a local story.
Incoming freshman full back Psalm Wooching got to campus a month early. That's a good thing. Wooching is a workout machine and there is playing time at fullback that could be taken with a good fall camp.
