[HTML1]Pretty typical practice for the Huskies. It was full pads as usual on Wednesday's. From a personnel standpoint, tight end Alec Kimble and offensive linemen Jake Eldrenkamp did not dress out for practice. Neither are on the two deep roster.
Wide receiver DiAndre Campbell talked was back practicing full without the yellow no-contact jersey. Wide receiver Kevin Smith seems to have shed the yellow jersey for good. We talked to Smith, who said he doesn't feel like he's back all the way. But he's getting close. Smith also said he will continue to wear the heavy "stick" leg brace all season. He said he doesn't mind how it feels and likes the protection it gives the knee.
Will Shamburger got plenty of work as the No. 1 safety. I'm guessing he will start over Justin Glenn. Corner back Brandon Beaver stayed with the first and second team defense during team periods. He is logically the fifth corner. But I'm sure UW is hoping to redshirt him if possible.
Washington showed a little more of the traditional three linebacker set today with Princeton Fuimaono in at linebacker and Shaq Thompson on the sideline. But I still think we will see the 4-2-5 look about 75 percent of the time on Saturday.
Never miss a local story.
Nate Fellner was out of his walking boot and gingerly walking around. It seems like a good sign.
Practice was pretty physical. Pio Vatuvei had a huge hit on Dezden Petty that caused a fumble. Taz Stevenson and Justin Glenn combined for hard hits on Petty.
