The Huskies hung onto the win, coming up with a fourth down stop midway through the fourth quarter to help seal it ...
Quick postgame notes ...
Right tackle Ben Riva suffered a fractured arm and is out. Head coach Steve Sarkisian said it seemed like Riva would be unable to go. My guess i is they will slide Erik Kohler to right tackle and insert James Atoe at right guard.
Running back Jesse Callier suffered a strained knee. He is having an MRI. I would guess he is unlikely to be available for next week.
Corner back Desmond Trufant suffered a slight hamstring strain, but Sarkisian didn't think it was anything too serious.
As for the play where SDSU scored on the TD pass. Sarkisian thought the play was illegal because the Aztecs had "an intent to deceive." He said they kept Travis Izzi near the sideline to blend him in with the mass of players
12:06 -- Things are getting a little interesting. SDSU put together an 11-play, 71-yard drive and converted on fourth down twice, including fourth and goal from the 1 when Adam Muema's second effort carried him into the end zone. The two-point conversion pass failed. UW still leads 21-12
10:13 -- after being forced to punt in their first possession coming out of the half, the Huskies defense stepped and provided a score. SDSU's Collin Lockett hauled in an 8-yard pass and was drilled by Talia Crichton and Princeton Fuimaono. The ball popped loose and safety Will Shamburger picked it up and ran 44 yards for a touchdown. The play was reviewed by officials, but there was really do definitive cause to over rule the call on the field. UW leads 21-6
Total offense: UW 220, SDSU 121
UW 14 carries for 74 yards -- Bishop Sankey 9-49, Erich Wilson 2-22
SDSU: 15 carries, 59 yards -- Walter Kazee 4-38, Adam Muema 5-21
UW -- Keith Price: 17-for-21 for 146 and 1 TD
SDSU -- Ryan Katz: 5-for-8 for 62 and 1 TD and 1 INT
UW: Austin Seferian-Jenkins 5 for 44, Kasen Williams 4 for 44 with 1 TD, Jaydon Mickens 2-16
14:51 -- The Huskies have a huge defensive miscue coming out of the quarter break. SDSU lined up an no one on the field saw No. 41 Tim Vizzi on the far sideline. The Husky coaches did and were trying to call timeout. But Ryan Katz snapped the ball quickly and fired to Vizzi who ran 47 yards untouched for a touchdown. The two point conversion failed.
Running back Jesse Callier has apparently suffered a knee injury and is getting it iced. So it will be Bishop Sankey the rest of the way
2:35 -- Kasen Williams talked about wanting to make the leap to the next level. Well, he's making serious strides toward it. He had three catches on a drive including a 8-yard touchdown reception, where he sidestepped a tackler and ran through another arm tackle on his way to the end zone. UW leads 14-0
9:23 -- The Huskies started off a little shaky giving up a 50-yard return on the opening kickoff. However, Tre Watson intercepted an awful pass from Ryan Katz and returned it 34 yards to the SDSU 35-yard line. Washington needed just seven plays as Bishop Sankey burst into the end zone from 2 yards out for the touchdown. Travis Coons made the extra point and UW leads 7-0.
