According to the Boulder Daily Camera, former Colorado punter Zach Grossnickle has enrolled in graduate school at Washington and will join the team in the fall.
Washington has been looking for ways to upgrade its kicking game after last season. The Huskies were last in the conference at 34.8 net yards per punt. Part of that can be attributed to Travis Coons having the unenviable task of handling all kicking duties. This year, Coons will compete with incoming freshman Cameron Van Winkle for the right to kick field goals. Korey Durkee from Gig Harbor is also part of the kicking equation.
And now, Washington can have Grossnickle as part of the package. According to the Camera, Grossnickle lost the his punting spot in 2011 and was the backup in 2012. He primarily handled kickoffs for the Buffs.
