Didn't expect when we woke up yesterday morning that in a matter of hours, reports of Steve Sarkisian's departure from Washington would span social media and both USC and UW would be announcing the move by mid-afternoon.
But the departure is only half the story. The vacancy is the bigger issue now, and who the Huskies might try to hire to fill it.
Never miss a local story.
--- Kind of got lost in the mix yesterday, but Bishop Sankey was named first-team All Pac-12. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Travis Coons, Hau'oli Kikaha and Marcus Peters made the second team.
--- Some history (written a few weeks ago, the week of UW's game at UCLA) on Mora's 2006 comments about wanting to coach at Washington.
--- CBS Sports says UW's first call should be to Mora.
--- Chris Dufresne of the LA Times says the Sarkisian hire "feels right" for USC.
--- Sarkisian said once he landed in Los Angeles that "it's awesome to be home."
--- The LA Times also reports that Mora would owe UCLA $2.5 million if he leaves before Jan. 16, and $2 million if he leaves after that.
--- Bill Plaschke says it's good that Sarkisian isn't Lane Kiffin.
--- T.J. Simers wonders if USC hired Sarkisian because it knew that might send Mora to UW.
--- Larry Stone of The Seattle Times thinks the timing is right for Mora and UW.
