OK, OK. So this isn't exactly the kind of hard news you're looking for in the middle of Washington's football coaching search.
But because people are talking about it, and it's an entertaining/interesting -- even if unrealistic -- idea, we'll go ahead and pass along this interview former Seahawks/Packers coach Mike Holmgren did with Sports Radio KJR earlier this afternoon.
The hosts, Ian Furness and Jason Puckett, jokingly asked Holmgren, who appears regularly on their show, if he would want to coach the Huskies in their bowl game. The conversation starts at about the 17:20 mark in the clip posted above.
"Wouldn't that be fun?" Holmgren responded.
Never miss a local story.
So if UW athletic director Scott Woodward called him, he'd be interested?
"Oh, sure," he said. "That would be great fun."
Surely, he was just being sarcastic, right?
"I’m not a sarcastic guy," Holmgren said.
Take that for what it's worth (which, admittedly, isn't much). If nothing else, it provides a moment of levity during this time of hand-wringing and rumor-chasing.
