Marques Tuiasosopo, the Washington Huskies' quarterbacks coach this season, has been named interim head coach for UW's bowl game.
That game will likely be the Fight Hunger Bowl, which is played Dec. 27 in San Francisco. But the Huskies won't know for sure where they're headed until those decisions are made on Sunday.
What they do know is that Tuiasosopo will be their head coach for whichever bowl game they play in. Tuiasosopo, 34, coached quarterbacks at UW this season after coaching tight ends at UCLA in 2012. He played quarterback at UW from 1997-2000, leading that 2000 team to a Rose Bowl championship and an 11-1 record. He is considered one of the most successful quarterbacks in school history, and is also one of the most popular.
“I’m humbled and so honored,” Tuiasosopo said in a statement released by the school. “It’s a great, incredible honor to lead my alma mater in a bowl game. We still have a lot to play for this season. I am excited to go out and get a ninth win."
Never miss a local story.
This will be Tuiasosopo's first game as a head coach.
