Thanks to our Seahawks reporter, Todd Dybas, for talking with Jeron Johnson today about Chris Petersen's hire at Washington. Johnson played at Boise State from 2007-10.
(On the hire) "I called it. I knew it was a chance that they probably could have got him. I feel like his time has come, time for him to move on to the next chapter in his life. Can't get mad at him."
"It was just a gut feeling. I felt like it was just his time, as if he outgrew something. He's been their head coach for eight seasons? Time for him to take it to the next level. Even with the playoffs coming in, UW is still in the Pac-12, it's a good conference.Went 8-4 this year? It's not like they are doing bad. I feel like he can really improve UW."
(Coaching style) "Some people ... I don't really see him as strict. Our relationship has changed though, since I don't play there anymore. He's kind of more open with me. Able to talk more. But, he's going to be on you. He knows what he's doing. The biggest thing for UW players is believe in it. He's not going to mislead you. He can be strict. He knows how to be fun. But, at the end of the day, you've got to handle business."
