Washington dodges a bullet with a 95-80 home win over Mississippi Valley State.
It took a long late run, and even after that the Delta Devils wouldn't go quietly.
Washington moves to 7-5 on the season. Valley drops to 3-8

Never miss a local story.
A quick overview on tonight's game:
PLAYERS OF THE GAME: Washington’s Perris Blackwell and C.J. Wilcox each provided double-doubles. Blackwell scored 17 points and Wilcox 15. Both had 10 rebounds – marking a career high for Wilcox.
IT WAS OVER WHEN: The score was tied 56-56 less than 13 minutes from the end. Then Washington went on an 18-0 run that finally finished the Delta Devils.
STATS OF THE GAME: The Huskies out-rebounded the smaller Devils, 51-29. Meanwhile, Mississippi Valley hit only 12 of 24 free throws.
QUOTABLE: “We talked about all that. We talked about how we’re trying to develop habits. It’s not about circumstances. It’s just about us.” – UW coach Lorenzo Romar on playing a lightly regarded opponent in front of a small crowd.
WHAT IT MEANS: Playing evenly for 30 minutes against a visitor from the Southwestern Athletic Conference indicates there’s work to be done before Pac-12 play begins next week.
NEXT UP: Hartford at UW, 6 p.m. Sunday, Pac-12 Net.9:05 Huskies, 72-56. Washington finally seems to be putting the visitors away on a 14-point run.
11:23 UW, 59-56. Valley actually just had a shot for the lead, but it missed, and Huskies' Williams-Goss scored on the break.
2nd/16:32 Huskies open a little daylight, 51-42.
Halftime: UW, 39-35.
