Huskies outside linebacker/defensive end Hau'oli Kikaha was named one of four finalists for the Lombardi Award, which seeks annually to honor the nation's best lineman or linebacker. Kikaha is also a finalist for the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame's Polynesian Player of the Year award.
Shaq Thompson, unsurprisingly, was named one of five finalists for the Hornung Award, given each year to the nation's most versatile player.
Kikaha, a fifth-year senior, is tied for the national lead with 16.5 sacks and leads the nation with 22.5 tackles for loss. He is UW's career and single-season sack leader. Thompson has 61 tackles, four defensive touchdowns, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles as a linebacker, and has rushed for 456 yards (7.5 per carry) and two touchdowns as a running back.
