The Associated Press announced its All-America selections this morning, and three Huskies were named to the first team -- linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha, defensive tackle Danny Shelton and linebacker Shaq Thompson (as an all-purpose player).
The trio have already been named to a handful of All-America teams, but the AP is one of the five lists recognized by the NCAA that help determine "consensus" All-America status. The others: Walter Camp, American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America, and Sporting News.
Kikaha was a first-team selection by Walter Camp, while AFCA, FWAA and Sporting News have yet to name their teams. He needs just one more first-team nod from one of those services to earn the "consensus All-America" tag.
In other All-America news, freshman safety Budda Baker was named to USA Today's all-freshmen team.
