With the Seattle Seahawks tending to other obligations on Friday, the Huskies made the drive across the water to hold their closed, off-campus practice at the Virginia Mason Athletic Complex (VMAC). They held a training camp practice there last season, too, and also practiced once at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell. UW has another off-site practice scheduled for Wednesday.
The Huskies are also back on the practice field today at Husky Stadium, though it’s closed to media. Coach Chris Petersen said Thursday that they’ll do some full-contact scrimmaging today, so we should hear more about that in the coming days.
Also, another reminder that Picture Day is tomorrow (Sunday). Practice (open to the public) begins at 3 p.m., with Picture Day scheduled from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
And since I’ve solicited UW football and basketball questions on Twitter the last couple days, I’ll go ahead and do it here, too. You can leave a question in the comment section, tweet it to me @ChristianCaple, or email me at email@example.com.
On to a few links ...
--- Former Huskies receiver Kevin Smith is in camp with the Seahawks, and he made two catches for 36 yards during Seattle’s 22-20 preseason loss to the Denver Broncos on Friday night. Former Husky receiver Kasen Williams, who is also in Seahawks camp and has reportedly been pretty impressive, was targeted just once in Friday’s game and didn’t have a catch.
--- Former Huskies linebacker John Timu, an undrafted free agent trying to make the Chicago Bears’ roster, likely helped his chances with this diving, tumbling interception during a Thursday night preseason game against the Miami Dolphins.
