De'Jon Jackson and Brandon Johnson both tallied 18 points as the San Diego Toreros recorded a 77-64 win over the Stanford Cardinal in non-conference play at Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Also scoring in double digits for the Toreros (1-0) were Chris Lewis and Chris Manresa with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Stanford (0-1) was paced by Landry Fields who tallied a game-high 25 points to go along with nine rebounds and five steals in the setback. Jeremy Green chipped in with 13 points off the bench and Drew Shiller 10 in a reserve role as well.
Despite making only one of five opportunities behind the three-point line in the first half, San Diego managed to post a 35-32 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Toreros made good on 60 percent from the floor and at the same time limited the Cardinal to just 30.3 percent success, en route to the 13-point home win.
San Diego, which shot 52.6 percent form the field for the game, also held a 40-33 advantage on the glass.
