Tristan Beard had enough.
The junior outfielder’s walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the 15th inning lifted the Curtis High School baseball team past visiting Graham-Kapowsin, 4-3, on Monday in each teams’ 4A South Puget Sound League South opener.
Graham-Kapowsin scored a run in the top of the 15th to take a lead that had been deadlocked at 2-2 since the fifth inning. But the Eagles’ one-run lead was evaporated by Beard’s homer the bottom half of the frame.
Curtis improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the SPSL South. Graham-Kapowsin fell to 2-3 and 0-1 in the SPSL South.
Mount Rainier Lutheran 12, Evergreen 10: The Hawks won a close game, after trailing by nine runs after the fourth inning.
Mount Rainier Lutheran scored two runs in the fifth to cut Evergreen’s lead to 10-2, then tacked on nine runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Jacob Perdue earned the save with six strikeouts in the final two innings. Justin Stewart was 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Davide Castellano was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.
