Munassar Saleh has steadily recovered from an injury that kept him out of the first half of the season.
And, boy, how the Wilson High School boys soccer team missed him.
In Saleh's third game back, the senior midfielder scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 home win over 3A Narrows League rival Mount Tahoma on Thursday.
"The coaches noticed he was getting his legs back in practice and it built over into [tonight's performance,]" Wilson coach Jason Gjertsen said.
Rams senior midfielder Aarjay Narayan scored the game's first goal at the 29th minute but Mount Tahoma responded back five minutes later.
"We had a few guys out to injury," Gjertsen said. "So it was about finding a rhythm in the second half. We finally had a few nice buildups and Saleh went on a nice individual run."
Gjertsen said Wilson's possession dominance emerged more in the second half after a steady exchange in the first.
The returning 3A Narrows first-team player scored in the 60th minute, giving the Rams (5-1-3; 4-1-2 3A Narrows) the win and helping them keep their third spot in the 3A Narrows standings behind Capital and Central Kitsap.
Mount Tahoma fell to 2-5-1 overall and 2-5-0 in 3A Narrows play.
Stadium (3-2-5, 2-2-2 4A Narrows) got on the scoreboard first before Timberline’s Ethan Bellecese scored in the 50th minute to tie it. Ballard scored 15 minutes later and Silva added the insurance goal in the 72nd minute.
