Olivia Benzin hasn’t slowed down from last year’s 4A state girls golf tournament.
The Bellarmine Prep standout and Oregon State University signee shot 3 under par for 39 points at Indian Summer Golf and Country Club in Olympia in leading the Lions to a 164-77 victory on Thursday against Timberline for sole possession of first place in the 4A Narrows League.
Benzin is coming off of last year’s fifth-place finish in the state tournament at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Washington, when she was five strokes off first-place Alivia Brown, her former teammate now at Washington State. Bellarmine Prep (5-0; 2-0 4A Narrows) is coming off its fifth consecutive team title.
The senior for the North Thurston girls golf team was the medalist in the eighth consecutive tournament, shooting 6-over-par and had 30 points in the Rams’ victory over Foss at The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie.
