Jake Talbot struck out nine and only gave up three hits to lead the Rogers High School baseball team to a 2-1 home victory against Graham-Kapowsin that secured second place in the 4A SPSL South.
"He threw great," Rogers coach Matt Whitehead said of Talbot. "He went out and dominated like he can."
Graham-Kapowsin senior C.J. Blowers had a no-hitter through five innings until Rams junior first baseman Jacob Stone hit his first varsity home run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
It was the game's only extra-base hit.

Talbot (5-2) only had one walk in his complete-game performance.
Blowers lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowed two hits, two earned runs and struck out four.
Curtis 11, Bethel 0: Nate Wentz threw a no-hitter in six innings for the Vikings.
Wentz walked four batters and struck out eight.
Alec Gronlund and Bryce Shirmon both went 2 for 4 at the plate for Curtis (12-8; 7-5 4A SPSL South).
Franklin Pierce 6, White River 5: Three players drove in five of the Cardinals’ six runs to secure the 2A SPSL home win.
Ethan Bailey struck out five Hornets in his complete-game win on the mound as Franklin Pierce (10-5; 7-4 2A SPSL) inched a game closer of White River (10-7; 8-3 2A SPSL) in the league standings.
The two teams play again at 4 p.m. Wednesday at White River.
Fife 17, Clover Park 0: Tanner Knapp threw all five innings and struck out 12 – and had a double at the plate – to lift the Trojans (14-2; 10-1 2A SPSL).
Kentwood 7, Decatur 6: Mike Ciancio had two hits and drove in two runs to give the Conquerors a winning edge over 4A SPSL Northwest host Decatur.
Tyler Swanson hit a home run for the Gators.
Seattle Christian 9, Charles Wright 4: Henry Cheney was 2 for 3 with a home run, three runs scored and two stolen bases, but it wasn’t enough to lift the Tarriers.
