Here’s what we’re looking at in the 4A SPSL:
Baseball teams from the Northwest and Northeast will play each other Thursday to decide seeding into next week’s 4A SPSL Tournament, taking place Tuesday and Wednesday.
Todd Beamer has locked the 4A SPSL Northwest title and Kentwood is the Northeast champ. They play at 4 p.m. Thursday at Kentwood for the top seed out of the North.
The winner earns the right to play South champ Puyallup at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the top seed out of the SPSL to the West Central District Tournament.
This is part of the new format with the North splitting into two divisions – the Northeast and Northwest.
Thursday’s other seeding games:
No. 3/4 seed: Tahoma at Decatur at 4 p.m.
No. 5/6 seed: Federal Way at Kentridge at 4 p.m.
No. 7 seed/loser out: Kentlake at Thomas Jefferson at 4 p.m.
That will decide the top seven seeds out of the SPSL North. The 4A SPSL South’s five seeds have already been decided thanks’ to Rogers’ win over Graham-Kapowsin on Tuesday.
No. 1: Puyallup
No. 2: Rogers
No. 3: Emerald Ridge
No. 4: Curtis
No. 5: Graham-Kapowsin
That means Beamer, Decatur, Kentwood, Puyallup, Rogers and Tahoma are all guaranteed spots in the 4A West Central District Tournament. One of the remaining six teams that make the SPSL tournament next week will be eliminated.
