Haywood Irwin signed to play basketball at North Idaho College as one of four current or former Foss High School boys basketball players to sign National Letters of Intent this week.
Irwin was named to The News Tribune’s second-team All-Area after leading Foss to the 3A regional round of the state tournament and a shared 3A Narrows League title with crosstown rival Lincoln.
Irwin, who transferred from Mount Tahoma after his junior year, led the Falcons at 19.1 points per game.
Senior guard Sam Dabalos-McMahon, a first-team 3A Narrows selection, signed to play at Carroll College in Montana. Senior forward Stephon Shaw signed with Tacoma Community College.
Never miss a local story.
"Great week for our guys and program," Foss coach Mike Cocke’ said.
Former Foss guard Nate Walker signed with the University of Hawaii-Hilo. He helped Foss reached the state semifinals before winning an NWAACC Championship and earning first-team all-region honors at Tacoma Community College. Walker last played for Central Washington in the 2012-13 season.
Hawaii-Hilo is also getting Curtis graduate and 6-foot-4 guard Cameron Howell, the son of former TCC head coach Carl Howell. He is transferring there from Lower Columbia College and he’ll join fellow former Curtis players in Darnell Williams and Darius Johnson-Wilson.
