Natalie Joyner drove home the go-ahead runs for the Puyallup High School softball team in the top of the eighth inning to lift the Vikings over the co-3A Narrows champ Central Kitsap, 4-2, on Monday.
It was a nonleague game, but it might as well have been a tune up for the upcoming postseason play.
The Cougars led 1-0 after their run in the third inning. Puyallup’s Emily Buckles tied the game in the sixth with an RBI.
It stayed tied past the seventh before Puyallup scored three runs in the top of the eighth to make it 4-1. Central Kitsap scored a run in the bottom half of the inning but nothing more.
Puyallup’s Emily Ensrud was 3 for 3 with two runs scored. Sammie Wallace was 2 for 4 with a triple for Central Kitsap.
Tumwater 11, Capital 5: Joceylnn Glasgo went the distance in this seven inning game, walking and striking out seven. Aly Carpenter of Tumwater was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Jen Rossman had two RBIs.
White River 6, Franklin Pierce 4: Natalie Volandt and Ashley Long had a great game at bat for the Hornets. both went 2 for 2 and had two RBIs.\
