From Tacoma to Williston, North Dakota.
Lincoln High School senior Josiah Barsh committed to play for the men’s basketball team at Williston State College in North Dakota next year.
Barsh said he visited the community college over the weekend and liked the coaches, the facility and that he would be close to one of his older brothers, Joseph Barsh.
"The coaches are really cool," Barsh said. "They play basketball and are actually good at basketball. We were talking about basketball the entire time there. And the workouts were good. They were similar to what my brother (Josh Barsh) does out here."
Never miss a local story.
Josiah Barsh averaged 17.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Abes this past season. He was named the 3A Narrows League co-MVP and a first-team All-Area selection.
Barsh said the other scholarship offer he was considering was from Gillette College in Wyoming. He said Joseph Barsh alerted the coaches at Williston that Josiah was still looking for a place to play next year.
"I just wanted to take my time, just wait for schools to call and they finally started calling," Josiah Barsh said. "I feel like, if I go there for two years, I can really mature and improve on my game. And my brother being out there is really going to help me."
