After losing two straight sets against Charles Wright Academy, things were not looking good for the home team Annie Wright. But the Gators dug in during the last three sets, winning each in exciting fashion to seal the Tarriers’ fate, 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 15-13.
Annika Cederstrand lead the Gators with 18 kills and added nine digs. Lauren Leeden had 12 kills, three digs and two aces, and Abbey Turner posted 8 kills, 14 aces and four aces.
The Tarriers did not go down without a fight, however. Over the five-set match Abbie Jackson managed to post 32 kills, 17 digs and five aces. Lauren Meadowcroft pitched in with 43 assists and Kaylee Kim had 10 kills.
Auburn Riverside 3, Auburn 0: Kiana Drumheller led the way for the Ravens with 13 kills and six digs and Calley Heilborn had 10 kills, two blocks and two aces. Lauren Smith contributed 34 assists. The Ravens won it quick to get the sweep, 25-11, 25-19, 25-21.
Life Christian 3, Northwest Christian 1: Kaitlyn Konsmo led the Eagles with 24 digs, Courtney Youngblood also had six aces and 10 kills and Alyssa Donaldson posted 20 assists as they defeated Northwest Christian, 25-13, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22.
BOYS WATER POLO
The Bainbridge High School boys water polo team defeated the South Kitsap Wolves in a home match at Bainbridge Wednesday night, 19-12.
Jem Bullock was the team leader with eight goals, and Harrison Shinohara and Will Thompson both had three goals. South Kitsap’s Giacomo Bressanello kept it as close as he could, scoring nine goals for his team. Nils Johnson also had two in the loss.
Puyallup 11, Auburn 3: Kyle Howgate was the goal leader for the Vikings with three. Austin Stump and Christian Braddock both contributed with two goals in a home match for Puyallup.
It was a good night for the Gig Harbor Tides as they went on the road to defeat the South Kitsap Wolves, 4-1.
Joey Watermeyer was the leading scorer with two (47th, 79th), Mia Ostergren scored in the 45th minute and Kaysie Bruce hit the back of the net during the 56th. The lone South Kitsap goal was scored by Sara Parkinson during the 65th minute.
