THURSDAY HIGHLIGHTS: In a Narrows League showdown of undefeated volleyball teams, third-ranked Olympia rallied for a 3-2 win at No. 7 Gig Harbor and clinched at least a share of the league title. The Bears won the final two games by a combined four points. Lisa Chulich led Olympia with 15 kills and 21 digs, while Jennifer Liedes added 12 kills and seven blocks.
• Second-ranked Graham-Kapowsin kept its perfect record intact with a 3-0 win over Beamer. Kaitylyn Foster led the Eagles with 7 kills and 6 blocks and Kayla Reno had a match-high 11 kills.
• Kentwood’s Max Manthou won the SPSL boys tennis singles title, defeating Kentridge’s Matt Overland, 6-1, 6-2. Kentridge’s doubles team of Vineeth Omkaram and Garrett Ballou took first, beating Puyallup’s Michael and Brian Pinkard, 6-4, 7-6 (7).
• Steilacoom’s Zach Bryan won the Nisqually 2A boys cross country championship at Spanaway Lake Park in 17 minutes, 22.53 seconds. Fife’s Jaimie McFarland won the girls’ event in 20:23.06 and Orting’s Kayleigh McCoy placed first in the 1A girls’ race in 20:04.75.
