[caption id="attachment_147" align="alignright" width="200" caption="Brandon Morrow"] [/caption]Brandon Morrow, who began the 2009 season as the Seattle closer, will return to the team this week and join the starting rotation on Friday - in Luke French's spot.
Morrow is starting today for Tacoma, but unless he's injured he will make the start Friday in Texas.
French, the left-hander acquired from Detroit in the Jarrod Washburn trade, will finish the season in the bullpen.
Morrow made 16 relief appearances and six starts for Seattle this year, going 0-4 with a 5.28 earned run average and six saves. In Tacoma, before today's start, Morrow went 5-2 with a 3.71 ERA in nine starts.
French has made seven starts with Seattle, going 3-3 with a 6.38 ERA - and opposing batters hit .316 against him.
Looking for the spot to drop Morrow into, the Mariners had their decision made easier by French's last two games. In those, he pitched 8 2/3 innings and allowed 12 runs.
Morrow will join the team in Anaheim in the next few days.
