Spring training is underway, with pitchers and catchers reporting to camp today and taking physicals - though they don't begin until 1 p.m.
That doesn't mean no one's on campus, though. Jack Zduriencik has been here an hour. So has Don Wakamatsu - preparing for meetings, no doubt.
The coaches, who have been here a few days already, come in one by one - pitching coach Rick Adair, bench coach Ty Van Burkleo, hitting coach Alan Cockrell arrived first.
It's a pleasant reminder that camp is opening gently. No workouts today. The clubhouse won't fill up with players and noise just yet, that will begin in earnest tomorrow.
And, of course, it won't really get loud until Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Sweeney show up. Incidentally, if you're wondering how Sweeney might make this team, keep this in mind:
If Junior is hurt in camp, Sweeney could take his roster spot - at least temporarily. Or if Ryan Garko isn't ready. Sweeney knows no matter what he does, making this team would depend upon someone else not being ready. He's fine with that.
More as players wander in.
